Admission Counselling ITEP ([B.A. B.Ed) 2026-27
Akal University, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda, Punjab invites NCET 2026 qualified candidates to apply for admission to the 4-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme [ITEP (BA B.Ed.)] for the Academic Session 2026–27. This is in accordance with the notification issued by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) dated 17 June 2026.
What is ITEP (BA B.Ed.)?
The Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) is a 4-year dual-major degree that combines a Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in a single integrated programme, introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Key benefits:
- Saves one year compared to doing BA and B.Ed. separately
- Recognized by NCTE and the Government of India
- Graduates are eligible to appear for CTET and apply for school teaching jobs across India
- From 2030, ITEP will be mandatory for new government school teacher appointments in India
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidate must have appeared in NCET 2026 conducted by NTA (held on 17–18 April 2026).
- Candidates who did not appear in NCET 2026 are not eligible for admission to ITEP (BA B.Ed.) for 2026–27.
- Class 12 pass or appearing from a recognized board (any stream).
- Minimum 50% marks in Class 12 for General/EWS candidates; 45% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates (as per NCTE norms).
- Must fulfill all eligibility conditions prescribed by NCTE and Akal University.
