University Scholarship for Needy and Meritorious Students

To make education accessible to all strata of society, the Kalgidhar Society/Trust awards scholarship to economically weaker and meritorious students in all the programmes as per following details:

Note:
⦿ Family Income of the needy students must not exceed Rs. 8.0 Lacs per annum from all sources.
⦿ Scholarship so awarded shall be adjusted in the tuition fee only.
⦿  Students having reappear in any examination will not be eligible for any scholarship in subsequent semesters/remaining duration of the programme.
⦿ Students from EWS not covered above shall be considered for financial assistance separately on a case to case basis

Minority Community Scholarship

This is a centrally sponsored scheme to provide financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students belonging to minority communities (Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, Jains, Buddhists and Parsis). These scholarships are awarded through an agency designated by the State Government/Central Government for this purpose. The scholarships under the following schemes are available to the students belonging to minority communities.

(i). Merit-cum-Means Scholarship: The objective of these scholarships is to provide financial support to the poor and meritorious students belonging to minority communities whose parent’s income is less than Rs. 2.5 lacs per annum, to enable them to pursue professional and technical courses.

(ii). Maulana Azad National Fellowship: The objectives of this scheme are to provide fellowships to the students belonging to minority communities whose parent of guardian’s income ceiling is Rs. 6.00 lacs per annum, for pursuing higher studies such as Ph.D.

Dr B.R. Ambedkar SC Post Matric Scholarship Scheme

This scholarship scheme is a Government of Punjab sponsored scheme to provide financial assistance to the Scheduled Caste students studying at post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their studies.
Students fulfilling the following conditions are eligible to apply for the same:
(i) The scheme shall be applicable to the persons belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), who are domiciled in the state of Punjab; and have done matriculation from the state of Punjab including Chandigarh.
(ii). The scheme shall be applicable to the students whose both parents/guardian’s income from all sources done not exceed Rs. 2.5 Lacs (Rupees two and a half Lacs only) per annum during last financial year.
(iii). Other terms and conditions are per notification No. 3/26/2020-SAI/2057 dated 27th October 2020 of the Government of Punjab or by any other subsequent nonfiction issued by the Government of Punjab applies.

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for Other Backward Class (OBC) Students

This is a centrally sponsored scheme. Under this scheme, Punjab domicile students belonging to the Backward classes are given scholarship by Punjab Government.
Conditions of Eligibility: The student must belong to the Other Backward classes and the annual income of students’ family must not exceed Rs. 2.5 LAC.

Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child

This is UGC sponsored scheme for Single Girl Child under this Scheme, eligible students admitted to various non-professional PG courses are given scholarship by the UGC.

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students

This scheme is sponsored by the Department of higher Education, Government of India to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from low income families (Economically Weaker Sections). Students who are above 80th Percentile in Class XII and the annual income of the student’s family must not exceed Rs. 8 Lacs.

Other Scholarships

Many corporate houses and NGO’s offer scholarship for specific eligibility. Students will be encouraged to apply for those, as and when available.

How to apply: The claimants for scholarships under categories ‘2’, ‘3’,’4’ above must attend minimum 75% of delivered lectures and must submit the following documents along with submission form:
1. Original Scholarship Form with affixed recent photograph
2. Copy of Freeship Card (For SC Category only)
3. Copy of Admission Form duly filled by the Student
4. Original Undertaking (Affidavit attested by Notary)
5. Copy of Aadhaar Card of Student
6. Copy of Aadhaar Card of Father (or Guardian if applicable)
7. Copy of Aadhaar Card of Mother (or Guardian if applicable)
8. Copy of Caste Certificate issued by Tehsildar
9. Copy of Punjab Resident Certificate
10. Original Income Certificate issued by Tehsildar for the latest year regarding income of student’s father/guardian if employed in unorganized or salary certificate in case of government employees as proof of income.
11. Copy of 10th certificate
12. Copy of Marksheet of last examination appeared
13. Passbook of own bank account number of claimants, linked to Aadhaar card and with bank branch IFSC code
14. Copy of attendance proforma issued by Concerned Department
15. Gap year certificate (if applicable)
17. Four recent passport size photographs

Note:
1. Claimant/Student shall be herself/himself responsible for applying online for Minority/SC/ST/OBC scholarship by the last date notified by the Government.
2. Student not applying for the SC/ST scholarship well in time and as per requirements of the Government have to pay the full tuition fee and all other charges of the Akal University.
3. Conditions under categories 2,3, and 4 above are amenable to changes by the competent authorities from time to time.
