About The Department
The Department of Psychology, established in 2016, is committed to advancing the understanding of psychological principles while promoting skill-based education tailored to meet the needs of the modern world. The curriculum designed for all the 3 programs, namely NEP based four-year B.A. (Hons.) program, a two-year M.A. program, and a Ph.D. program, integrates theoretical knowledge and practical application, preparing students for self-discovery and personal growth, encouraging them to actively engage with contemporary challenges and contribute meaningfully to society. Equipped psychological laboratories allow students to gain hands-on experience with modern tests and apparatus, facilitating psychometric assessments in areas like intelligence, personality, aptitude, mental health, and other educational and psychological attributes. Additionally, students are provided with internships at various psychiatric hospitals, drug de-addiction centers, and mental health institutions helping them to gain professional skills essential for entering the workforce. Apart from the classroom lectures delivered by the highly qualified faculty members, who have specializations in various fields such as Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Organizational Psychology, Positive Psychology, and Health Psychology, the learning process is enriched through interactive seminars, group discussions, and experiential exercises including the community outreach programs, raising awareness about mental health, drug abuse, and social stigma in nearby villages.
To create an engaging academic culture, the department organizes various events and activities which offers students a platform to creatively apply psychological concepts through activities like psychodramas, photography competitions, and mono-acts. The student-led psychology society, “HappyMinds,” regularly conducts events like poster-making, face-painting, and debates, fostering creativity and collaboration. Additionally, the university's Counselling Cell is managed by the Department of Psychology, where faculty members provide guidance and support to students. With their expertise in counselling skills, the psychology faculty address emotional, academic, and personal challenges, ensuring a supportive and nurturing environment for students' well-being.
