About The Department

The Department of Mathematics is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement. The department provides the necessary resources and guidance for students who are preparing for advanced studies in the field, or pursuing a career in academia, industry, or technology to achieve their goals and contribute effectively in their chosen fields. Currently, the department offers a Ph.D. in Mathematics, an M.Sc. (Honours) in Mathematics and a B.Sc. (Honours) in Mathematics. Our programs offer a strong foundation in both pure and applied mathematics, empowering students to develop critical problem-solving and analytical skills. With a team of accomplished faculty and access to cutting-edge resources, we provide a vibrant academic environment that encourages innovation and discovery.

Objcetives

Apply mathematical techniques to solve problems in applied mathematics and various fields.
To communicate mathematically and present logical and concise arguments.
Prepare students for elementary, higher education, and technical professions in the field of Mathematics.
To engage with the wider community by organizing workshops, seminars and conferences that promote mathematical literacy and inspire interest in mathematics.

Scope

Several competitive exams such as the Civil Services Examination, banking exams and state level exams.
UGC – NET/ JRF exam for Assistant Professor and Ph.D.
Placement as TGT or PGT teacher in reputed schools, and several posts in Corporate sector.
Graduates can pursue careers in education, research and some industries where mathematical expertise is essential.

Programmes

Course	B.Sc. (Honours) Mathematics
Duration	4 years (Semester System)
Eligibility	10+2 with 60% marks in aggregate with Mathematics as one of the regular subjects. Candidates belonging to SC/ST and Persons with Disability (PWD) category (provided they produce a medical certificate of at least 40% physical disability) shall be allowed relaxation of 5% in the minimum aggregate percentage.
