About The Department

The Department of Economics aims to enhance the intellect of the students with the perspective of making them attain the ability to critically examine the issues related to economy of India and rest of the World as well. In order to accomplish the goal of building up the overall development of the personality, students are trained to think analytically about socio-economic issues with the help of every possible advanced teaching technique. Building up a sound base for further study and career in Economics is also focused upon.

The department constitutes of well qualified and proficient faculty members. All the faculty members have contributed academically by publishing extensively in research journals of repute and other professional publications. The department is well equipped with the advanced teaching aids to train the students in the best possible manner. It is not only the lectures by the faculty members but the guest lectures organized by the department and delivered by the Visiting Professors such as Prof. A.S. Oberai (Former Member of International Labour Organisation) and Dr. Shashi Kant (University of Punjab) serve the purpose of enhancing the intellectual level of the students.

Data Processing and Analysing Centre (DPAC) – The department has fully equipped lab for students to enhance their econometric skills and knowledge of data analysis. The lab also imparts advance econometric knowledge to the students for the industrial and research requirements as a part of “Data Management: Processing and Analysis” subject under B.A Economics (H) course.
