Akal University PhD Admission 2026-27 applications are now open. Akal University, Talwandi Sabo (Bathinda, Punjab) has officially invited applications for its Ph.D. programme for the academic session 2026-27. Candidates can apply for both Regular and Part-time modes across 13 disciplines.

Number of seats in each department depends on supervisor availability and specialization.
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum qualification: Master’s degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (or Grade B on UGC 7-point scale).
Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Differently-abled candidates and those who completed Master’s before 19 September 1991 are eligible with 50% marks.

Who is Exempt from Entrance Test?
Candidates who have qualified any of the following national-level tests are exempt from the written entrance test:
- UGC-NET / CSIR-NET / JRF
- SLET
- GATE
- JEST
- Any other national-level scholarship/fellowship test
They must still attend the interview round.
Admission Process
Admission is a two-stage process:
- Written Entrance Test – qualifying in nature (50% cutoff)
- Interview – candidates present their research interest/area before a selection committee
Part-time PhD – Is It Available?
Yes. Akal University permits part-time PhD programmes. The candidate must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer confirming:
- Permission to study on a part-time basis
- Sufficient time available for research
- Relieving from duty for course work if required
