About Centre for Competitive Exams (CCE):
Akal University Centre for Competitive Exams (CCE) provides free coaching for UPSC, State PCS and other competitive exams to students along with their graduation course. The program works with a motto of “Catch them early” wherein students are guided during the foundation years of graduation itself so that they can qualify the exams soon after graduation and enter into civil services at an early age. The philosophy of this course is to provide best quality teaching and facilities, keeping in mind the needs of students from rural backgrounds.
Aim of CCE
UPSC Civil Services Exam is among the most prestigious exams in our country and every year lakhs of aspirants appear for the exam. There is a tough competition involved which demands rigorous preparation with a clear strategy and efficient time management. It has been observed that usually aspirants spend 1-2 years after graduation to understand the basics of the exam and then a few more years to clear it. This process eats up a large part of their productive youth years.
Keeping this in mind, Akal University established a Centre for Competitive Exams within the University where our students are provided coaching and guidance for competitive exams along with their graduation. This helps the students to complete UPSC syllabus along with their graduation and increases their chances of qualifying competitive exams soon after graduation.
Teaching Plan and Facilities for UPSC Students
1) Integration of UPSC syllabus in graduation courses: Under our General Elective/ Multi-Disciplinary Model, UPSC subjects taught to students are provided as an integrated part of their graduation curriculum. UPSC General Studies syllabus has been divided into several modules that are taught in each semester as follows :

2) UPSC Super-30 Batch: In the year 2024, Akal University CCE launched its UPSC Super 30 Project. Under this project, an entrance exam is conducted for 12th passout students across Punjab, Delhi and other neighbouring states. A rigorous 3-stage process of selection is conducted and 30 students are shortlisted. These students receive dedicated coaching and exposure to the UPSC Civil Services Exam since their day one in our university. Their graduation and UPSC Coaching is completely free of cost. Similar entrance test will be conducted at the beginning of every academic year and new students will be selected for UPSC Super 30 Batches every year.
3) UPSC CSE Interview & Mains Appeared Faculty: Akal CCE engages those faculty who have themselves qualified various stages of UPSC Civil Services Exam. Such experienced faculty enable exam oriented and targeted preparation that boosts student confidence.
4) Collaboration with IASBaba: Akal CCE has collaborated with reputed coaching institute of Delhi IASBaba. This remarkable collaboration intends to take the UPSC batch to new heights by offering students with advanced coaching approaches, experienced supervision, and an enhanced learning environment.
5) Regular interaction with Serving Officers and Civil Servants: Every semester, dignitaries who have already cleared competitive exams and currently in government services are invited to motivate and guide the students.
6) Smart Digital Classroom: A dedicated classroom has been specially designed for UPSC students with facilities like Interactive Smart Teaching Board, High quality sound systems and lecture recording facilities.
7) Live Online Streaming of lectures: Akal CCE has a complete setup to live stream UPSC lectures online so that students can attend live lectures from home/hostel even after university hours.
8) Dedicated Reading Room Facility with extended timings: UPSC Students are allowed to utilise their reading room facility even after university hours. CCE faculty will be available for guidance and for clearing any doubts. A dedicated female security guard is assigned to take care of students studying till late hours.
9) Newspaper and Current Affairs Discussion: Daily and weekly sessions are held to help the students understand major news events which is an important part of civil services exam preparation.
10) Regular Mock Tests as per UPSC CSE Prelims and Mains Pattern: Tests are designed by experienced faculty or are sourced from best IAS coaching institutes across India.
11) Personality Development Activities: Akal CCE organises regular events like Mock Parliaments, Mock United Nations, Essay Writing, Elocution, Debate and Discussions. These activities are aimed at improving the communication skills of our students.
12) Integrated Coaching & Guidance for Other Competitive Exams: The Coaching provided is so comprehensive that it covers the syllabus of almost all competitive exams. Students can simultaneously prepare for various exams like CSE, CDS, EPFO, SSC, Bank PO, Intelligence Bureau ACIO, CAPF, etc.
13) UPSC Summer Camp: Every year Akal CCE organizes a one month free UPSC summer camp for all IAS aspirants. This camp is aimed at covering additional syllabus and to create awareness among students about various competitive exams.
14) Provision of Study Materials: Akal CCE provides all pdf notes and study material needed by students for preparation of civil services exams.

In the year 2024, three CCE students have qualified the UPSC CDS Written Examination and one student has qualified the UPSC EPFO Written Examination. The students are being provided with regular mentoring and guidance for the next interview stage of these exams.
