Centre for Competitive Examinations

The Akal University has started one of the unique inculcations of including General Studies papers for the under graduate programmes. Under this structure General Studies papers are taught to the students of Sciences and Arts. The syllabus of the papers is framed according to UPSC's preliminary and mains examination's format. The objective is to prepare students for rigourous competitive scenario. This unique system of teaching general studies paper broadens up the students' perspectives. These papers are non-credit compulsory in nature. Apart from classroom lectures regular assignments/workshops on a weekly basis enhances not only perceptions but also comprehension, writing and analytical skills of the students. The course utilizes a variety of instructional methods, including class interaction, tutorials, study of classical texts, case method, role playing, problem solving, library work and discussions.

Experts are invited regularily to motivate students for various competitive examinations. The aim is to expose students to some of the best minds in the field and this experiential learning would add to their understanding of the competitive scenario.

The courses envisage a focus on logical reasoning, use of classical texts and development of writing skills to analyse and present evidence, through tutorials and a mentor system. The course aims to prepare the students for competitive examinations and employment in civil services, government and the corporate sector. It intends to provide additional perspectives to comprehend the significant issues of the region, nation and the world today. Our endeavor is to mould the students who come to us into remarkable young men and women who are leaders in the field they may choose to go into, and who will usher in change for a new, progressive tomorrow.
